Sam Penrod/Randall Jeppesen Reporting A husband and wife are in jail, accused of being bank robbers and hitting the same bank in Utah County, three times!
Kylee and Joshua rich will be charged federally with three counts of bank robbery according to Pleasant Grove Police Captain Cody Cullimore.
Police are turning over their case to federal prosecutors. All of the suspects involved will face very long mandatory sentences in prison if they are convicted because a gun was used in all of the robberies.
Capt. Cullimore: "They're looking at potentially decades in jail."
He says they've also found evidence that the newly married couple was working with a third suspect who acted as the gunman once and as the getaway driver another time.
Capt. Cullimore: "They needed money and that's why they did the first robberies. We have identified that they have a drug problem, they are using heroin."
Police were already looking at Joshua Rich as a possible suspect in November's robberies before the bank was robbed again on Saturday.
Capt. Cullimore: "They were actually married between the first and second robberies."
Police believe Kylee Rich clearly knew of the first and second robberies, when another man was the accomplice. But she was directly involved on Saturday, because that accomplice is in jail on unrelated charges.
Capt. Cullimore: "She was a willing participant. She knew the plan and was involved in the planning as far as staging the cars and basically being a getaway driver."
Why would a young couple would be involved in such a crime spree?
Rich's arrest comes as no surprise to his former roommate who says Rich stole his identity and ruined his credit.
Amacy Rico, Former Roommate: "I called him up and he denied it and I went home that day and he was gone."
But he created a headache for Rico that lasted for years.
Amacy Rico, Former Roommate: "He's really lazy, he doesn't like to work and he just started living off me. He didn't want to work or anything."
Amacy Rico, Former Roommate: "Josh is Josh, I mean he's one of those guys who can play many characters, so you never know."
Cullimore says Joshua Rich is being kept in the Wasatch County Jail while Kylee Rich stays in Utah County so they can't see each other.
Officers are working with the FBI on this case.
