AMERICAN FORK — State Route 92 near the mouth of American Fork Canyon was closed for a time Tuesday as authorities investigated a body found near Timpanogos Cave, police said.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said a maintenance worker was driving through the canyon just before 2 p.m. and spotted the body inside a car parked on the north side of the road, in an area close to an old power plant building about a mile up the canyon.

Cannon said the body was taken by the medical examiner and the death did not appear suspicious.

S.R. 92 was reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
