WEST HAVEN, Weber County — A 40-year-old man was in stable condition after being shot Friday evening in West Haven, police reported.

Police were alerted to the shooting just after 5 p.m. Friday, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Nate Hutchinson. Officers arrived at 1022 W. Wilson Lane and discovered the gunshot victim, at which point he was transported to a nearby hospital, Hutchinson said.

The man was shot in the stomach, according to the lieutenant. He was reported to be in stable condition and was expected to survive.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the man lived at the home where police found him.

Investigators believe another person shot the man, but no additional information was released about a possible suspect or whether anyone connected to the case was in police custody.

Hutchinson said police were still sorting through "different accounts" Friday night about what transpired, but said there was no active threat to West Haven residents and that they didn't need to fear for their safety.
