BOUNTIFUL — After 31 years, Bountiful head football coach Larry Wall is retiring from his position, becoming the third high-profile high school coach from northern Utah to step away from the game in the past two weeks.

Wall, who announced his retirement to his team Friday morning, won four state championships with the Braves while owning the distinction of the longest tenured coach in the state. He joins Logan's Mike Favero and Mountain Crest's Mark Wooten to step down within the last 14 days.

Wall, 60, guided Bountiful to a 238-116 record, including state titles in 1990, 1991, 2002 and 2003. He also helped the Braves to six region championships, and a 7-5 record and a trip to the 4A state quarterfinals this past season.

Clark Stringfellow, Wall's longtime assistant coach of the past 22 years, also announced he was stepping down Friday.

Emery's Jim Jones, who just finished his 28th year, is now the longest tenured coach in the state of Utah.
