SALT LAKE CITY — High school football players across the nation turned their dreams into realities Wednesday as they signed their letter of intents on National Signing Day.

Utah, BYU and Utah State are looking to add the future missing pieces to their football programs today.

The University of Utah had a new approach by welcoming their new recruits with videos of former Utah players and current NFL players. They started off early with former Ute star and current quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Alex Smith.

Mike McCoy, a former Ute quarterback and current head coach of the San Diego Chargers, welcomed freshman Tyler Huntley a quarterback from Hallandale, Florida to the Ute family.

Jake Murphy, a former tight end for the Utes, chimed in on why offensive tackle Garett Bolles from Snow College is a special player.

BYU is hoping to close out a strong recruiting class for first-year head coach, and former BYU player, Kalani Sitake. Coach Sitake starts out the day conversing with Cougar legend and Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards.
