CENTERVILLE — A gas leak at an apartment building in Centerville caused more than 60 people to evacuate on Friday night.

Chief Basset with the Bountiful Fire Department said the leak happened at Legacy Cross Apartments Building A near 1142 W. 200 North in Centerville.

Questar was on scene with a vacuum truck to remove the gas. Crews were investigating the source of the leak and believe there may be a broken pipe underneath the building.

One wing of the complex containing about 60 units was evacuated as a precaution.

The Red Cross is opening a reception center to help those displaced. Officials are unsure when residents will be able to return to their homes.
