BOX ELDER — Five people were injured Friday evening after their car crashed and rolled on I-15, officials said.
The victims were traveling southbound on I-15 near the Tremonton/Garland interchange at about 6:45 p.m. when the Nissan SUV's rear tire on the driver's side blew out. The driver lost control, and the car hit a guardrail then rolled several times down an embankment, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Two males and three females were in the car, and they were all injured. The driver and two passengers were wearing seat belts and had "mostly minor" injuries, DPS said. Two other passengers were not wearing seat belts, and both were ejected from the vehicle.
The two ejected victims were in critical condition and flown to McKay Dee Hospital. The other three victims are being treated at Bear River Valley Hospital.
All five victims are students in Rexburg, Idaho, and they were traveling to Provo.
Delays in the area are not significant, but the far right lane was closed for emergency vehicles as of 9:30 p.m.
