ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — Fans of authentic British chocolate won't want to hear this. A trademark dispute between Hershey and an importer has cut off the supply of Cadbury treats sold in Britain.
Hershey filed a lawsuit last August against LBB Imports, a New Jersey company that sells specialty products from Britain, South Africa and Australia.
Hershey accused LBB of violating trademark laws by importing U.K. candies, such as those made by Cadbury. Only Hershey has the right to sell Cadbury in the United States.
LBB has since stopped importing the U.K. brands that Hershey objected to.
A Hershey spokesman said the company works to "protect these important intellectual assets and defend them again infringement."
Hershey says LBB recently signed an agreement to stop selling the forbidden confections and the lawsuit has since been dropped.
Consumers can still buy Cadbury chocolates in the U.S. but they'll be the variety made and marketed by Hershey. Some fans say those chocolates don't taste like the original British versions.
