SALT LAKE CITY — A Price woman has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in the November 2013 armed robbery of a Smith's Food and Drug store.

Jennifer Meradee Tryon was ordered Tuesday to serve three years in prison, spend three years under federal supervision upon her release, and pay $480 in restitution, according to a clerk for U.S. District Judge Dale A. Kimball.

Tryon, 43, pleaded guilty in October to one count of Hobbs Act robbery. In exchange for her plea, prosecutors agreed to request the dismissal of a federal weapons charge. Kimball granted that request.

In court papers, Tryon admitted that she drove Dominic Mathew Martinez to the Smith's store at 1075 E. Main in Price on Nov. 26, 2013, and waited for him while he robbed the clerk at the store's customer service desk.

Martinez, 29, showed the clerk a handgun and gave her a note demanding money, charging documents state. After collecting the money, Martinez left the store but forgot to take the note with him, Price Police Capt. Bill Barnes said.

Fingerprints recovered from the note led investigators to Martinez. Detectives were able to identify Tryon as the getaway driver based on interviews conducted after the robbery, Barnes said.

Martinez pleaded guilty in September to brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. He was sentenced to serve seven years in federal prison and five years on supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $2,200 in restitution to Smith's Food and Drug.
