VERNAL — The body of an oilfield worker was found Tuesday afternoon, two days after he was last seen alive.
Jeffery Vaughn Mounga's body was discovered about 3 p.m. in the Dog Valley area southwest of Vernal, according to the Uintah County Sheriff's Office.
Mounga, 32, was last seen in the Vernal area about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Codie Taylor, office manager for Cameron, the oilfield service company where Mounga worked. He had not been heard from since, Taylor said.
Mounga's body was found a short distance from his company-issued pickup truck, investigators said. The truck showed no evidence that it had been involved in a crash, and Mounga's death does not appear to be the result of foul play, the sheriff's office said.
Mounga's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
