COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A man recently used stolen checks to withdraw $4,500 from one bank account, police said.
The checks and other identification were stolen from a vehicle at the Cottonwood Corporate Center on Sept. 8, according to Cottonwood Heights Detective Brad Bailey. He said the stolen checks were used to withdraw $4,500 within two hours from several branches of the same credit union in the Salt Lake Valley.
The police department posted a surveillance image of a man cashing the checks on Twitter Tuesday. Bailey said the man was identified later that night, but police are not releasing his name while the investigation continues.
Bailey said the person they identified is already a “wanted man.” If anyone knows his current location they can contact police at 801-944-7100.
