OGDEN — Weber State football made plenty of plays to beat No. 1-ranked North Dakota State.
The problem is, the Wildcats also made plenty of plays to lose the game, and those mistakes are what cost Weber a chance at the upset.
Weber State forced two turnovers in the game, both on interceptions. If the Wildcats can continue to gain extra possessions, especially as they begin facing conference opponents, their odds of victory will continue to increase.
The 17 points the North Dakota State offense scored against the Wildcats came on drives featuring personal fouls against Weber State. Those penalties allowed the Bison to continue drives, where they eventually scored.
Tied 7-7 in the second quarter, Weber State quarterback Billy Green lost a fumble at the 3-yard line, which was recovered and returned by North Dakota State’s C.J. Littlejohn for a touchdown. The score changed the momentum for the remainder of the game.
