AMERICAN FORK — Police are searching for those responsible for a vandalism spree early Wednesday morning.
The vandalism began around 3 a.m. near 100 South and 700 East, according to American Fork Police Lt. Sam Liddiard. Officers responded to reports of vandalism and an alarm in the Bank of American Fork office building. A large rock had been thrown into the window of the office building and broke the outside pane of the double-paned window, but had not gone through into the building, Liddiard said.
Officers found at least 10 cars along 900 East and 50 South that had rocks thrown through their windows, but nothing was stolen from the vehicles, Liddiard said. A witness told police he saw a car driving through the area during the time of the vandalism and he saw a juvenile get out of the vehicle and throw a rock through a car window.
Liddiard said there was not an estimate for the damage yet, but he expected it would be thousands of dollars worth of damage.
“There’s no leads,” Liddiard said. “I’m sure these are kids and they are going to talk about it to their friends. So if a parent or somebody hears about it, we would certainly welcome any phone calls on following any leads on knowing who these kids were.”
