PARLEYS CANYON — A man died when he drove his car off I-80 and struck an unoccupied pickup truck near the mouth of the canyon Sunday morning, police say.
The man was traveling westbound in his Nissan at an excessive speed when he collided with a Ford pickup truck and a small trailer by the East Canyon exit, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
He was not wearing a seat belt, and UHP said evidence indicates drugs and alcohol may have been involved.
UHP is still investigating the incident, but did say the vehicle was "possibly stolen."
No one else was injured in the collision.
I-80 was limited to one lane for about three hours after the crash.
UHP has not released the name of the individual pending notification of family.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
