SALT LAKE CITY — Two more banks were robbed in Salt Lake City on Monday.

The incidents marked the 23rd and 24th bank robberies along the Wasatch Front since Nov. 2, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

One of Monday's robberies was believed to have been committed by a suspected serial bank robber.

A man robbed U.S. Bank, 2243 E. 2100 South, just before 12:30 p.m. Investigators believe the bank is the fifth the man has robbed in the past three weeks.

In each case, a man about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds and wearing a disguise presents a note to the teller and threatens violence, according to the FBI. The disguises have included a fake mustache, fake goatee, and/or fake sideburns.

In addition to Monday's robbery, detectives believe the same man has robbed:

  • Goldenwest Credit Union, 3225 Harrison Blvd., Ogden, on Dec. 16.
  • America First Credit Union, 5219 S. 4015 West, Kearns, on Dec. 20.
  • U.S. Bank, 8100 S. State, Midvale, on Dec. 23.
  • Utah First Credit Union, 1520 S. 500 West, Woods Cross, on Jan. 2.

A little more than an hour after U.S. Bank was robbed Monday, Health Care Credit Union, 769 E. South Temple, was robbed. The incident marked the second time the bank has been robbed since Christmas Eve.

A white man in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with dirty blonde hair and a skinny build, and wearing a blue baseball cap, blue hoodie and black glasses, handed the teller a note claiming to have a weapon, though none was seen, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Heiden.

The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident was not believed to be related to the U.S. Bank robbery.

Salt Lake City police continued to look for a second suspected serial bank robber Monday. Investigators believe a man who always wears a hat or knit cap is responsible for bank robberies at:

  • Health Care Credit Union, 769 E. South Temple, on Dec. 24.
  • America First Credit Union, 3190 S. Richmond Ave., on Dec. 28.
  • University Credit Union, 2752 S. Redwood Road, West Valley City, on Dec. 31.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 25 and 30 years old, who typically wears brown- or black-rimmed glasses and black gloves.

Other bank robberies since November have included:

  • University of Utah Credit Union, 2755 S. Redwood Road, on Dec. 24.
  • Brighton Bank, 1420 S. 300 West, on Dec. 12 and Dec. 30.
  • Bank of Utah, 711 S. State, on Dec 30.
  • Zions Bank, 701 E. 400 South, on Dec. 13.
  • U.S. Bank, 1575 S. Main, on Dec. 2.

Anyone with information on the robberies can call the FBI at 801-579-1400, the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000, or Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000.
