SALT LAKE CITY — Last month, Elder Joseph Baker of Lewiston had just returned from the Philippines with some incredible video and experiences during the typhoon.
He told KSL, then, that he wanted to go back immediately to help the people. He did and just returned with more images and stories to share.
The images still tell the story. Life, in the hardest hit areas of the Philippines, is far from back to normal.
Baker knows of what he speaks. He brought us this incredible video as the typhoon struck Ormoc City, while he was serving as a Latter-day Saint missionary.
He and his companion did what they could before he completed his mission but he vowed to return.
And on Christmas Day - while most of us were gathering with family and friends - Joseph Baker and the group, Charity Vision, were working hard.
"We went and just chainsawed big trees out of people's yards that were hanging over their houses and we were just telling them ‘Merry Christmas!' " Baker said. "They'd say it back and they were so grateful for everything that we did for them."
Baker said if you can, please give to the church or organization of your choice. The Filipinos need food and need shelter.
He plans to start college but hopes to once again raise enough money to return to the Philippines during a school break.
