Andrew Adams and Associated Press reportingAuthorities released the name of the boy killed by his school bus and say the death was an accident.

Daniel Duplain was a fourth-grader at West Point Elementary School in Davis County.

Police say the boy got off the bus Wednesday but then ran back toward it and was run over near the rear.

Syracuse Police Lt. Tracy Jensen tells The Salt Lake Tribune that it was a "freak thing."

The bus driver has been a Davis School District employee for 10 years.

Grief counselors were on hand at West Point Elementary School today to help students deal with the death of their classmates.

Both school officials and neighbors of the boy are dealing with the news of his death.

Chris Williams of the Davis School District said, "A tragic, tragic accident. Lots of people's lives will be very different."

A neighbor, Martha Bucher, said, "When I came home and found that out, it was just horrible."

Officials say the bus driver is having a particularly hard time because she had driven this route for a while and had a connection with the kids she drove.
