SUGAR HOUSE — If you have ever wondered what people do with their 900 pound pumpkins, we have an answer for you. They are emptied out and used as boats.
A group got together this morning at Sugarhouse Park for the annual pumpkin Regatta.
"If you get a pumpkin big enough to be in the race you've already won," said David Bradley of Salt Lake City.
Participants raced across Sugarhouse Pond in their hollowed pumpkins for prizes like ski packages and lift tickets.
Utah's largest pumpkin this year weighed in at more than 1400 pounds.
The event was sponsored by the Utah Pumpkin Grower's Association.
