WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (AP) - An investigation is under way into a police shootout in Washington City that left a 36- year-old man critically injured.

Jamon Val Cranney of Washington City is accused of failing to comply with officers' commands after a routine traffic stop Friday afternoon and firing shots at them.

Police returned fire, and the suspect was listed in critical condition at Dixie Regional Medical Center.

A warrant for Cranney's arrest, issued Thursday in Iron County, claims he failed to abide by the terms of his probation and complete jail time ordered when he was sentenced on charges of attempted robbery and assault in 2010.

The shooting is under investigation by the Washington County Attorney's Office Critical Incident Investigation Team.
