SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz certainly had their chances against the San Antonio Spurs Monday night. Winners of 10 straight, the Spurs are the hottest team in the NBA, and the Jazz had them on the ropes all night.
But when you know it is your night (and luck is on your side) when you hit buzzer-beating prayers along the sideline, from 30-feet away, with two guys in your face and the crowd screaming down on you.
Well, Gary Neal of the Spurs did just that to end the third quarter and help steal the momentum away from Utah and propel San Antonio to the 106-102 win.
All that aside, it was a pretty (impressive) shot.

What a finish in the UConn-Villanova game. After a missed UConn free throw, Villanova's Ty Johnson went coast-to- coast for a scoring layup to tie the game at 70 with just over five seconds to play.
Not to be outdone, the Huskies Shabazz Napier (love the name) forgoes a timeout, sprints into Jimmer range and sinks a quick-release 25-footer to claim victory for UConn.
Maybe not as dramatic as the Duke-North Carolina finish, but just as smooth.

While all of the attention in the NBA right now is squarely focused on Jeremy Lin (and for good reason), it was another New York Knickerbocker who was getting some love for his facial on the former Mr. Kim Kardashian.
Landry Fields took a pass from Lin (of course) and soared from the right block, hammering home a dunk over and through former Jazzman Kris Humphries.
Humphries has been taking it on the chin all year for his very public (and embarrassing) marriage and divorce from the creepy Kardashian sister.
So, he's obviously use to the abuse.
Those darn stools

Everything was normal for former play-by-play man for The mtn. James Bates as he and his partner sat to record the pregame intro to the Dayton-Xavier contest.
The two warmed up onto the stools and Bates went straight into his intro, turned to showcase the team behind him and at that moment his stool crumpled and he toppled over.
Bates, the consummate professional, just kept going using the exploding stool as a metaphor for the action that was to come.
We've all been there... well, actually no we haven't.
