OGDEN — The three police officers still hospitalized following a shooting that left a fellow officer dead have been upgraded to fair condition.
Ogden police officers Kasey Burrell, Michael Rounkles and Shawn Grogan were all listed in fair condition Tuesday, said McKay-Dee Hospital Center spokesman Chris Dallin.
Until Tuesday, Burrell had been listed in critical condition.
Two of the other injured officers have already been released, including Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Nate Hutchinson, who left the hospital Sunday, and Roy police officer Jason VanderWarf, who was released from the hospital Thursday.
Ogden police officer Jared Francom was killed in the Jan. 4 shooting at the home of Matthew Stewart, 3268 Jackson Ave. Members of the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force were at the home to serve a search warrant.
Police say Stewart fired on the officers at the door of his home. Monday, Weber County Attorney Dee Smith said that once Stewart is released from the hospital, he anticipates filing charges of capital murder, eight counts of attempted aggravated murder and cultivation of marijuana.
Francom's death has devastated the local, state and national law enforcement communities. His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Ogden's Dee Events Center.
