This is Lane Beattie of the Salt Lake Chamber with your Utah Business Report.
Peru is a nation on the rise. Last month, Utah's trade mission to Peru was a big success.
Thanks to the trade mission, Peruvian President Ollanta (Oy-aunt-ah) Humala (Ew-mall-ah) has opened the doors of international trade between Utah and Peru.
Representatives from seven Utah-based educational institutions met one-on-one with Peruvian education officials. Peruvian government and education leaders have expressed the need for stronger ties to Utah universities, and these meetings have created more opportunities for Peruvian students to receive post-secondary education in Utah.
The international trade pipeline has already been established and now that pipeline will start to flow in both directions. This kind of international relationship helps to increase exports in products and expertise—ultimately translating to more jobs for Utah residents as well as an improved economy.
