SALT LAKE CITY — The latest KSL Coaches Poll has set up a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in 5A this Friday between Bingham and Brighton.

The No. 1 Miners are undefeated and their average margin of victory against Utah competition is 42 points.

They face their biggest test of the season against No. 2 Brighton, which is 6-0 with wins over American Fork, Hunter and Alta. They have defeated all their opponents by 10 points or more.

Bingham and Brighton are followed in the poll by 6-0 Davis, Syracuse and Jordan.

Top 5 performances:

Chase Nelson, Logan

Nelson did it again Friday putting up video game type numbers in a win over Bonneville. He passed for 503 yards which is the fifth highest total in state history. He also tossed six touchdown passes and rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Coleman Meier, Olympus

Meier had a night to remember in a 49-20 win over Orem. He had 255 yards rushing and four touchdowns and he added 117 yards and a touchdown on kickoff returns. He had a grand total of 419 all- purpose yards and five touchdowns.

Osa Masina, Brighton

Masina carried the ball 23 times for 253 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-28 win over Alta. His touchdown runs were for 63, 20, 76 and 31 yards. He also had a sack on defense.

Gaige Kartchner, Corner Canyon

Kartchner made 11 tackles and four quarterback sacks helping the Chargers defeat Timpanogos 35-7 to move to 3-0 in Region 7 play.

Dylan Despain and Matt Muir, Duchesne

These two Duchesne running backs combined for 357 yards and two touchdowns on just 24 carries in a 34-21 victory over Kanab.

The Riverton Silverwolves pulled off the upset of the week dominated then No. 2 ranked Pleasant Grove 38-7.

Upsets shook up the 3AA and 3A polls.

Pine View knocked off No. 1 Desert Hills 16-10. Juan Diego now moves up to No. 1 followed by Pine View, Dixie, Desert Hills who drops to No. 4 and Stansbury.

In 3A, Judge went on the road and knocked off No. 1 Grantsville 25-14. They scored 25 unanswered points in the 2nd half to earn the win. Morgan moves back to No. 1 where they started in the preseason poll. The Trojans only loss is to South Summit, the No. 1 team in 2A.

Morgan is followed the poll by Judge, which moves up to No. 2, Manti, Grantsville and Richfield. No. 5 Richfield travels to No. 3 Manti this Friday.

South Summit remains undefeated and No. 1 in 2A followed by Beaver, Grand, Layton Christian and North Summit.

Duchesne extended their state record win streak to 40 games with a win Friday over No. 3 Kanab. They continue their run at No. 1 in 1A followed by Rich, Kanab, Monticello and Diamond Ranch. Duchesne makes the trip to Hurricane this Friday to face No. 5 Diamond Ranch.
