SALT LAKE CITY — Davis made quite a statement Thursday with a 21-7 win over Syracuse.
The Darts' win in the battle of unbeatens in Region 1 not only gives them a leg up in the region title race, but it has vaulted them up to No. 2 in the latest 5A poll.
Bingham remains No. 1, and Davis is followed by Pleasant Grove, Brighton and Alta.
JarDee Nessen, Bear River
Nessen was 26 of 34 for 492 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown in the Bears 62-48 win over Tooele.
Caden Calton, Lehi
Calton rushed for 315 yards including touchdown runs of 43, 57 and 65 yards. Lehi's 37-24 win over Westlake was the Pioneers first region win in 9 years.
Kody Jarvis, Herriman
Jarvis made big plays on both sides of the ball leading the Mustangs to an important region win over Lone Peak. He rushed for two scores and returned a game changing interception 95 yards for a touchdown.
Kelton Hunt Enterprise
Hunt carried the ball 28 times for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the Wolves 32-0 win over Parowan.
Deryke Terrell, Lehi
Terrell had 5.5 sacks on defense and also caught a touchdown pass in the Pioneers win over Westlake.
East recorded another impressive victory over a ranked team, knocking off Woods Cross 42-6 to remain No. 1 in 4A. They are followed by Logan, Timpview, Highland and Olympus. The Titans make their season debut in the top five. They boast victories over 5A opponents Northridge, West Jordan and Taylorsville, and had a lead over Cottonwood when that game was suspended due to a power outage.
The 3AA top five remains the same with No. 1 Desert Hills followed by Juan Diego, Pine View, Stansbury and Dixie. Dixie and Pine View face off in a big 3AA South matchup this Friday.
Grantsville stays on top in 3A after a 12-0 road win over Juab. The Cowboys are followed in the 3A poll by Morgan, Manti, Judge and Richfield, who is now 4-0.
South Summit is dominating 2A competition and remains No. 1. They defeated No. 3 Beaver 37-6 to remain perfect on the year. Grand is No. 2, while North Summit comes in at No. 4, and American Leadership moves back into the top five.
Duchesne keeps on winning and is No. 1 in 1A, followed by Rich, Kanab, Monticello and Diamond Ranch.
