Ogden — Ryan Andrus scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds leading American Fork to a 41-37 win over Syracuse in the 5A state quarterfinals.

Andrus put the Cavemen ahead for good with a dunk with just under two minutes left in regulation. It was part of a 7-0 run to close the game for American Fork.

Syracuse had a chance to tie or take the lead with less than 30 seconds left in regulation but turned the ball over.

American Fork's Dan Nyman made two free throws to clinch victory.

Diante Mitchell led Syracuse with 10 points. The Titans had a lead late in the 4th quarter but didn't score in the final three minutes of the game.

American Fork moves on to play No. 4 Alta in Friday's semifinals.
