PROVO — BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced Geoff Martzen has been hired as Football Player Personnel & On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator.

"Geoff is young and energetic and has gained a great understanding of successful recruiting processes from his experiences at Alabama and Boise State," Mendenhall said in a press release. "We are always trying to get better, and I believe Geoff will help us do that. I'm looking forward to his contributions to our program."

Martzen helped Alabama head coach Nick Saban bring in the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2012, helping the Crimson Tide reload with players like T.J. Yeldon and Landon Collins.

Martzen also helped Boise State head coach Chris Peterson bring in one of the Broncos' highest rated classes in school history. The group was highlighted by two ESPN JC100 players, Mercy Maston, a defensive back from Bakersfield College in California, and Justin Taimatuia, a defensive tackle from Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.

"I'm excited about this opportunity at BYU," Martzen said. "I'm eager to get to work and build upon the great experiences I've had at Alabama and Boise State. I feel fortunate to be able to work with some of the nation's top football programs, and I'm especially looking forward to working with the great young men that make up the BYU program."
