CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead has named Darin Westby to serve as director of the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources effective immediately.

Westby has worked for the agency for over 15 years and is currently field support chief. He is a licensed engineer.

Westby replaces Milward Simpson, who announced his resignation in July.

Mead says he regards Westby as a strong leader.

Westby says he believes that instilling pride in ownership is the key to maintaining the highest level of success for any organization. He says he's excited to serve as director of the agency.
