COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for attempting to kidnap and assault a fellow Coeur d'Alene Press employee last fall.
Former contractor with the newspaper Jason Edwards was sentenced on Tuesday to 55 years for attempted kidnapping, battery with the intent to rape, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He pleaded guilty in April.
Edwards admitted to using a knife to try to abduct the woman, who was working an early shift at the newspaper. The victim was able to take his knife and escape. She sliced Edwards' hand before returning to the Coeur d'Alene Press building and locking herself in the newsroom.
According to court documents Edwards was previously convicted of molesting a child in 2008.
