BOSTON (AP) — An 8-year-old boy who went missing from a summer day camp at a Boston beach has been found dead in the water.
Kyzr Willis was reported missing around 3 p.m. Tuesday from the city-run camp at Carson Beach in the city's South Boston neighborhood. He was found dead around 7 p.m.
Police say the child wandered off from the L Street Bathhouse. The reason he left remains unclear.
The bathhouse will remain closed while police continue to investigate.
The U.S. Coast Guard, state police, Boston police and Quincy police all assisted in the search.
Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh released a statement Tuesday night saying that he will be working closely with the Boston Centers for Youth and Families and Boston police to determine exactly what happened.
