TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Snowpack in southern Idaho is at its highest level in a decade.
The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/1V8Xfr4 ) that the Salmon Falls Basin is at 153 percent of normal, which officials say is the highest level since 2006.
Snowpack along the Nevada border from Raft River basin to the Bruneau and Owyhee basins are also relatively high.
Officials say snowpack typically peaks Apr. 1, so if weather persists those basins could be in good shape for spring.
Water Supply Specialist Ron Abramovich says of snowfall ended today, the region would see only normal moisture levels, which would still be better than the last decade.
In west-central Idaho, the Boise and Payette Basins are at about 117 percent of normal, while much of northern Idaho is at about 95 percent.
