ABINGDON, Md. (AP) — The Latest on the shooting of two sheriff's deputies and another person (all times local):
7 p.m.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has ordered flags be flown at half-staff to honor two deputies shot and killed by a gunman who opened fire inside a crowded restaurant and got into a shootout with deputies.
Hogan said Wednesday in a statement, "It is my hope that their commitment and dedication to law enforcement and protecting others will be remembered and will forever serve as an inspiration to others."
A spokesman for Hogan says the order takes effect Thursday, and will remain in effect until after funeral services are held for the deputies.
Harford County Executive Barry Glassman ordered the county flag to be flown at half-staff effective immediately.
Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said Wednesday that the gunman was 67-year-old David Brian Evans. He was also killed.
The slain officers were described as a 30-year veteran and the other a 16-year veteran.
6:10 p.m.
A Maryland sheriff is identifying the gunman who fatally shot two sheriff's deputies, including one inside a crowded restaurant during lunchtime.
Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said Wednesday that the gunman was 67-year-old David Brian Evans. The sheriff says Gahler had warrants out for his arrest in Harford County and Florida, where he was accused of assaulting a police office and fleeing and eluding.
He thinks Evans shot the first deputy at a Panera restaurant because of his uniform. The second deputy was shot in an exchange of gunfire with deputies near the restaurant.
The slain officers were described as a 30-year veteran and the other a 16-year veteran. The sheriff said he had met with both of their families but was withholding their names because more relatives needed to be notified.

A Maryland sheriff says two deputies have died after they were wounded by a gunman who opened fire inside a crowded restaurant and got into a shootout with deputies.
Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said Wednesday night that authorities identified the shooter and he had outstanding warrants for his arrest in Florida and Harford County. The sheriff says a loaded handgun was recovered from him.
Authorities say the gunman shot a sheriff's deputy in the head inside a Panera restaurant at lunchtime Wednesday and wounded another deputy during a shootout near the shopping center where the restaurant was located.
No bystanders were hurt.

A 15-year-old girl who says she witnessed the shooting of a deputy at a crowded sandwich shop says she was in a booth with her mother about 10 feet away when it happened.
Sophia Faulkner said she saw the deputy fall back out of his chair and blood started coming out. She said she didn't know how to process it and just sat there for a while as little kids were running around the restaurant, screaming.
Harford County schools were closed Wednesday after a light snowfall.
Authorities say a man opened fire inside a crowded Panera restaurant during lunchtime Wednesday and wounded a sheriff's deputy, then exchanged gunfire with another deputy outside. The second deputy was also wounded and the suspect was killed in the shootout.

Two sheriff's deputies in northeastern Maryland are wounded and another person is dead after authorities say shots were exchanged in and around a shopping center.
Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said the first shooting took place inside a Panera restaurant in Abingdon after a deputy responded to a call at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday about someone causing a problem inside. The responding deputy was wounded, and the individual left.
The sheriff says witnesses gave officers a good description of the person and the direction that person was headed. After at least one deputy caught up with the person, shots were exchanged. That left the second deputy wounded and the suspect dead. No one else was hurt.
Gahler says investigators believe the person acted alone and there is no further threat to the community.
He declined to discuss the deputies' conditions; they both were taken to hospitals.

Authorities in Maryland say sheriff's deputies have been involved in a shooting.
Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Andersen said Wednesday that the deputies were involved in a shooting at a shopping center in Abingdon, about 20 miles northeast of Baltimore. Andersen did not have information about injuries or whether the officers were shot or shot someone.
The shopping center is called the Boulevard at Box Hill. It has a mix of shops, restaurants, a grocery store and a bank.
Yellow tape blocked off two restaurants at the shopping center on Wednesday afternoon, but people were coming and going freely at other businesses.
