DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) — Police are investigating the death of an Ohio Wesleyan University soccer player whose body was found in a creek in central Ohio.

Delaware police say the body of 19-year-old Luke Gabbert was found Saturday morning in Delaware Run Creek in the city about 20 miles north of Columbus.

Investigators say the cause of death wasn't immediately determined.

Ohio Wesleyan University President Rock Jones confirmed in a statement emailed to the campus that the body was that of the freshman from Lewis Center.

Ohio Wesleyan soccer coach Jay Martin recruited the 5-foot-9, 155-pound back to play for the Battling Bishops. Martin told The Columbus Dispatch that Gabbert did everything for his family, his friends and his teammates.

Martin said he and the team planned to spend the weekend supporting Gabbert's family.
