WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia education officials are set to release scores on new standardized tests that are meant to assess students' performance on the Common Core academic standards.
The tests were administered for the first time this spring. Officials released high school students' scores last month. On Monday, scores from 3rd- and 8th-graders will be revealed.
High school students struggled on the tests, with just 10 percent of students meeting proficiency standards in geometry. In English, 25 percent of students were found to be proficient. The results also revealed a large achievement gap between white students and blacks and Hispanics.
