NORMANDY, Mo. (AP) — An autopsy report shows that an 18-year-old who exchanged gunfire with police in suburban St. Louis died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was not hit by any officer's bullets.
St. Louis County police released autopsy findings Tuesday in the case of Amonderez Green. A pathologist concluded he died 14 hours after sustaining a gunshot wound under the chin in Normandy.
Authorities have said that after Green's relatives called asking for intervention help for him on Oct. 28, Green opened fire on responding officers but missed. Police said an officer returned fire but also missed, and Green ran away.
Police say officers lost sight of Green before they heard a gunshot and found Green unresponsive.
Green's parents have publicly questioned the police account of what happened to their son.
