MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Among states that require all high school students to take the ACT college entrance exam, Montana's 2015 students ranked fourth highest in average composite score.
Those Montana students had an average composite score of 20.4 on the test.
The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/1KZLHjZ ) that this is the second year Montana has tested all of its high school graduates.
Colorado, Illinois and North Dakota were the only states that also require also students to take the ACT with a higher average composite score than Montana. Thirteen states are now testing all of their students.
This year's tests results showed 44 percent of graduating Montana students met college readiness benchmarks in reading. Fifty-seven percent met benchmarks in English, 41 percent in math and 36 percent in science.
