GRANVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Officials at a central Ohio college say a student missing since Sunday has been found dead.

Denison University says in a statement that Wendell Jackson's body was found at about 8:40 a.m. Tuesday in a nature preserve near the campus in Granville, about 30 miles east of Columbus.

The county coroner says Jackson killed himself.

The university canceled classes on Tuesday and made grief counselors available. Students and staff were gathering informally at the campus chapel to support each other.

Spokeswoman Ginny Sharkey says the 21-year-old Jackson was last seen studying at an academic building on campus Sunday.

The statement says Jackson, a junior from the Chicago area, was "a bright, active and engaged person" who had been involved in campus activities.
