OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) — The man accused of fatally shooting a Louisiana police officer in a domestic dispute was taken to the hospital after being unresponsive in jail.

Police say Harrison Lee Riley Jr. wouldn't talk when questioned in the St. Landry Parish jail Thursday and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Capt. Clay Higgins, with the parish sheriff's office, said Riley was speaking and appeared to be fine when examined by hospital staff.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz told The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1NM6FHs ) that officials believed Riley was faking a medical problem.

Riley is accused in the Wednesday shooting death of Police Officer Henry Nelson and the stabbing death of Shameka Johnson, along with the stabbings of three other women in Sunset, a town about 60 miles west of Baton Rouge.

He was denied bond Friday.
