RENO, Nev. (AP) — The mother of two young Reno children killed when an SUV plowed through their home says she wishes she could have done more to protect them.

Friends and family gathered at a memorial service at The Little Flower Church in Reno on Wednesday for 2-year-old Sabadel Gomez Rubio and 4-year-old Desdeiry Candelaria Gomez Rubio.

Two small coffins were carried down the church aisle decorated with pink, blue and "Dora the Explorer" balloons as a band strummed soft tunes, according to the Reno Gazette Journal (http://tinyurl.com/p625pyy).

Their mother, Alma Gomez, asked for forgiveness when she read the eulogy.

"I've told them many times that I loved them very much," she said. "I tried to do everything I could for them and I didn't. Forgive me."

Police haven't decided whether to file charges against the 66-year-old driver, Sheldon Berg. They don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved but are investigating whether he may have suffered a medical event before his Subaru crashed into the house about a mile south of downtown on June 22.

Witnesses say he was traveling at a fast speed and didn't slow before running though a T-intersection and into the house.

State records show Berg had his driver's license suspended six times since 2002.
