CLEVELAND (AP) — A Cleveland man convicted of rape and kidnapping for assaults on four women in the 1990s has been sentenced to 110 years to life in prison after tests matched his DNA to evidence in a backlog of untested rape kits.
The judge and a prosecutor called 54-year-old Dwayne Wilson "the worst of the worst" during sentencing Wednesday. Wilson was convicted in February of seven counts of rape and four counts of kidnapping. He was charged last year after his DNA matched evidence in old rape kits.
Wilson maintained his innocence Wednesday and said he planned to appeal.
After serving four years in prison for sexual battery, he was taken to jail last October on the new charges. One of the victims was a 16-year-old girl.
