LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a 69-year-old Fort Morgan man died from complications of hypothermia three days after he walked away from an assisted living home in Longmont.

Molly Meehan, a spokeswoman for the Longmont Fire Department, says firefighters were called in the early morning hours of March 3 after James Wacker was found outside a home. Wacker's sister, Kathy Worden, tells the Longmont Times-Call (http://bit.ly/1agGARh ) her brother was banging on a window before he lay down on the ground.

Wacker died at a hospice facility in Louisville on March 6. The Boulder County Coroner's Office has ruled his death an accident.

Wacker had walked away from the Applewood Living Center in Longmont, and his sister thinks he was wandering for two to three hours before he was found.

The Times-Call reports an administrator at Applewood declined to comment.
