The newspaper reports the hang gliding team put the boy in the back of a pickup truck to drive him to Las Vegas for medical attention before they pulled over next to a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper who attempted to help him. Arriving medical personnel pronounced the boy dead.

The identities of the man and the boy were not immediately available.

Las Vegas police say they responded to a call reporting the accident shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.
