NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Brentwood Academy rallied from a 17-point deficit to win the Tennessee Division II Class AA title with a 58-55 victory over previously unbeaten Christian Brothers at Lipscomb's Allen Arena on Saturday.
The Eagles won their fifth state title and first since winning four straight from 2003-06 with Brandan Wright who now plays for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA.
Brentwood Academy (28-2) outscored the Purple Wave 26-13 in the fourth quarter after trailing 36-19 with 5:28 left in the third quarter.
MVP Jeremiah Oatsvall led Brentwood Academy with 14 points, and Darius Garland added 12.
William Douglas and Shunterio Alexander led Christian Brothers (29-1) with 13 points apiece.
Christian Brothers outscored Brentwood Academy 22-8 in taking a 27-16 halftime lead.
Brentwood Academy started its comeback on a 10-footer by Oatsvall with 30 seconds left in the third to pull within 40-32.
Briarcrest's Micah Thomas won the DII-AA Mr. Basketball award.
