SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Officials at a liberal arts college in Sioux Falls are urging students to be careful on social media following a student's report that a man was stalking her on campus after accepting his friend request.

Rick Tupper, campus safety director at Augustana College, says the situation escalated when the female student accepted the suspect on Facebook. Tupper says the man was able to enter the student's residence hall without an ID, but he left without making contact with the woman.

According to a campus alert, the suspect is a white man in his 30s who's known to hang out in the library in the evenings.

Tupper tells KELO-TV (http://bit.ly/1D72cYb ) that it's important for students to be aware of who they connect and correspond with on social media.

He says Sioux Falls police are investigating the incident.
