GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (AP) — Trustees of the College of DuPage have voted again for a $762,000 retirement deal for the school's president.
The 6-1 vote late Wednesday came during a board meeting attended by hundreds of people, including many who opposed the deal for college President Robert Breuder.
The trustees last week voted 6-1 to approve the severance deal for Breuder. The deal will pay him nearly three times his base salary when he retires in March 2016, three years before his current contract expires.
Trustee Kathy Hamilton, who opposed the deal, and others have criticized the buyout package as a waste of taxpayer funds.
The board met Wednesday because of concerns the previous vote may have violated the Open Meetings Act. Some said that meeting didn't offer a chance for public input.
