COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho prosecutor has determined that 12 law enforcement officers acted appropriately in exchanging gunfire with an Arizona man during a chase on Interstate 90.
The Spokesman-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1uxrxpD) that Bonner County Prosecuting Attorney Louis Marshall released the report Monday that said officers acted to stop a threat that Marcus A. Rael of Glendale, Arizona, posed by shooting at officers.
Police say the 24-year-old Rael fled from a traffic stop and started shooting at officers from four agencies with a rifle and an AK-47 before being wounded. No officers were hit.
Rael has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of assault with intent to commit murder and attempting to elude an officer.
His trial is set for March 31.
