LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 50-year-old Ely man died in a Christmas Eve rollover crash on a remote stretch of rural highway between Las Vegas and Ely.

Trooper Loy Hixson said Thursday that Richie Zabriskie was killed in the single-car crash about 4 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 93 in Lincoln County.

Investigators say Zabriskie was thrown from the 1986 Jaguar he was driving when the vehicle veered off the highway and overturned down an embankment near mile marker 97.

Hixson says a Lincoln County sheriff's deputy pronounced Zabriskie dead at the scene.
