CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) — New York health officials say they're investigating the death of a 92-year-old nursing home patient who was evacuated following a snowstorm last week.

Ruth Snyder was among more than 170 residents of the Garden Gate Health Center in the suburb of Cheektowaga who was moved Nov. 20 amid concerns that heavy snow had weakened the roof.

A Health Department spokeswoman says Wednesday that the investigation is being done because the death happened under unusual circumstances.

A spokeswoman for McGuire Group, which owns the facility, has said the woman died after she arrived at a second nursing home.
