HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — Police in southwest Ohio say two men have been killed in an accident while painting a water tower.

The Butler County sheriff's office says the men fell some 100 feet after their scaffolding failed in a rural area. Sgt. Randall Lambert says one man was dead at the scene Friday evening, while the second was pronounced dead as efforts were made to get him to a hospital via Air Care helicopter.

Their names weren't released immediately.

Police say the men were contracted by the Southwest Regional Water District through Farmington Hills, Michigan-based V&T Painting. A message was left Saturday for the company.

Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
