BELVIDERE, Ill. (AP) — A former northern Illinois teacher has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female student.
The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/1t5hTNn ) 31-year-old Jenee Blackert was sentenced Monday in Boone County court. The former Belvidere North High School social studies teacher was originally charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault. Three charges were dropped in the plea deal.
Blackert will be registered as a sex offender and will be released on parole for at least three years after her prison sentence.
The State Attorney's Office released a letter from the victim to Blackert saying she felt betrayed.
