UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania high school choral teacher remained jailed on charges he traveled to West Virginia hoping to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex.

Instead, police say 44-year-old Daniel McGarvey, of South Union Township, was taken into custody by police who monitored his online attempts to find a girl to have sex with. McGarvey is a choral teacher at the Laurel Highlands School District near Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

McGarvey was arrested Friday by Bridgeport, West Virginia police when he arrived at a mall there expecting to meet a girl he tried to contact online. Instead, police were corresponding with McGarvey, after they saw his social media posts soliciting sex last month.

A secretary with a Harrison County, West Virginia magistrate says McGarvey remained in jail Monday.
